Joey Gallo doesn’t want to leave.

But the declining New York Yankees player knows it could be an imminent reality.

He told the New York Post Wednesday:

“I am aware of this possibility,” Gallo said. Trade deadline is August 2. “I’ve been in the league for a while and I understand that if you don’t perform, things can change quickly. For me, I don’t see myself anywhere else. I think we have a great team here with great chemistry. We have the best record in baseball and I can’t imagine myself.” Anywhere else. I want to be here.”

On Wednesday night, Gallo recorded a 426-foot home run running 1 for 4 with a walk twice in a 16-0 hit by the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, he has consistently underperformed throughout the season.

Randy Miller from NJ Advance Media:

This was a rare good offensive night for the two-time All-Star team, which is still 2 for 36 with one Homer, one RBI and 20 Ks in his last 14 games. His season stats are roughly rough: .167 average in 67 games with 10 pub owners, 19 RBI and 91 strikes in 198 at-bat games. Gallo was just as bad late last year after joining the Yankees as well.

Gallo has been disappointed since he was traded from the Texas Rangers in 2021. If the Yankees had set their sights on winning the world championship, he might not be around to witness it.

Among the teams associated with Gallo in the latest commercial sensation are the Philadelphia Phillies, who lost Bryce Harper for a few months to a broken thumb that required surgery.
