Who Produced the Vince McMahon Prom at WWE SmackDown?

Despite being investigated and temporarily stepping down as WWE President and CEO, Vince McMahon made a surprise appearance at SmackDown on Friday night.

McMahon started the show at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While fans weren’t sure how the clip would air, McMahon stepped into the ring and simply quoted the WWE mantra “So. In the Moment. Forever. Together.” Then he welcomed everyone to the show. It was a short clip in which he did not mention the investigation going on behind the scenes.

According to the combat option, there was no product for the sector and it was not included in scripts or internal scripts. Earlier in the day, McMahon resigned from his position as president and CEO of WWE after he was involved in an investigation into a $3 million payment to a former employee he allegedly had an affair with. There is also an investigation into several non-disclosure agreements issued by the WWE Council, which they also say relate to former employees. Shortly after news of McMahon’s stepping down, WWE announced that “Mr. McMahon” would appear on “SmackDown” later that night, without explaining the nature behind his appearance.

While the investigation continues, McMahon’s daughter Stephanie McMahon will be promoted to President and CEO in the meantime. Stephanie has been on leave from the company since May 19, but has now been called back to work during this turbulent time for the company. WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis has also been included in the charges, with no word yet on his future position within the organization. Further investigations are underway with the WWE Board of Directors and senior management for breach of fiduciary duties as revealed by Business Wire late last week.
