A Telegram Premium subscription plan could be on the way soon and the subscription is expected to give users access to premium stickers and exclusive emojis for interaction. Users who download the app currently see the slogan “Telegram will be free forever. No ads. No fees.” However, this could soon change. In the latest update, an icon for an upcoming version of the Telegram online app has been spotted with a different logo dropping the free logo. The new chains indicate that the company is testing another way for the app to generate profits.
Famous developer Alessandro Palozzi (@alex193a) on Twitter I suggested Telegram is changing the app’s initial logo to launch its paid version soon. New data threads shared by the developer include a new line “Telegram provides unlimited free cloud storage for chats and media”. The screenshot also indicates that there are plans to display ads. The Telegram Premium subscription is expected to unlock additional stickers as well.
The new tagline is not active in the messaging app yet. It will likely be activated once the premium subscription is officially announced.
Telegram recently released its beta version 8.7.2 for iOS which included new reactions and stickers. These new stickers and emojis are said to be premium features only available to Telegram Premium users. All users will reportedly receive a prompt asking if they want to subscribe to the Telegram Premium subscription plan when viewing these reactions or stickers on the instant messaging app. However, the company has not shared much information about the exact pricing and availability of the Telegram Premium service yet.
In April of this year, the company added several new features to the app including custom notification tones, setting custom periods to mute chats or auto-delete messages, and improved forwarding that preserves responses. It also introduced an updated picture-in-picture mode for Android users, while message translation got improvements on iOS.
