Authorities said the remains of what appeared to be a human placenta and fetal membranes were found in a bag discovered Wednesday in a lake in the Overbeck County Park in Leonia.
Someone pulled the bag from Bergen County Lake on Wednesday and reported it to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, according to a statement from the Bergen County District Attorney’s Office.
Officials said the exact contents of the bag are awaiting final confirmation from the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s office.
