No-frills airline SpiceJet said Friday that the release of its independent, audited financial results for the quarter and fiscal year ending March 31, will be delayed due to a ransomware attack on its IT systems. In a regulatory filing, SpiceJet said it has postponed its board of directors meeting on May 30, to consider and approve the company’s results for the March quarter and fiscal year 22 to a later date.
“We would like to inform you that we are anticipating a delay in submitting the independent audited financial results and the company’s consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022 with the stock exchange… due to a ransomware attack on our IT systems that affected the on-time completion of the audit,” she added.
She added that the company is taking corrective actions with the help of experts and cyber authorities on this issue.
“Accordingly, the company’s board meeting scheduled for May 30 has been postponed, and the revised date for the board meeting will be announced…soon,” SpiceJet said.
Several SpiceJet flights were delayed on Tuesday due to a ransomware attack on its system.
“Some SpiceJet systems experienced an attempted ransomware attack last night that affected our flight operations. While our IT team has largely contained and corrected the situation, this has had a cascading effect on our flights resulting in delays,” a SpiceJet spokesperson said. In a statement on May 25.
In the statement, the airline also informed that it is in contact with experts and cybercrime authorities on the issue.
