Religious leader on inaugural North American tour after arriving in New Jersey

VIPs and devotees from across North America traveled to Newark Airport last month to welcome Acharya Shree Jitendriyapriyadasji Swamiji Maharaj from Maninagar, Gujarat, India.

The religious leader had begun his inaugural visit to the United States and Canada since becoming the spiritual leader of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Santhan. He was accompanied by his team of 16 eminent saints also known as monks.

Acharya Swamiji and the Sants are on a seven-week religious tour of the United States and Canada, where they visit all chapters of Shree Swaminarayan Siddhant Sajivan Mandal USA, a non-profit religious organization.

Acharya Swamiji was greeted at Newark Liberty International Airport by Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band USA, the only Indian-American Bagpipe in North America.

A grand Swagat Sabha welcome party was held at the Newark Airport Welcome Center in partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Thereafter, an official welcome ceremony was held at Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Secaucus which included a welcome show.

Hundreds of devotees arrived at the Secaucus Temple to greet Acharya Swamiji, who sat on a handmade chariot made by Mandir volunteers in the United States. Devotees sang and danced to welcome him. He was also received by Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli.

The young American Indian at Secaucus Temple performed a welcome dance as Acharya Swamiji entered the Mandir. Many young devotees under the age of 10, who are part of the Gujarati castes at Secaucus Temple, sang kirtan in Gujarati to welcome him. He constantly promotes the importance of American-born youth learning their mother tongue in Gujarati.

Prior to the appointment of Acharya Swamiji as the leader of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Santhan in 2020, Shree Jitandria Priadasji Swami visited the United States and Canada every summer from 2004 to 2019, traveling to nearly all 50 states and disseminating the Swaminarayan Creed and core values ​​of religious devotion, knowledge and religious commitment. Peace, unity and service.

Since her appointment in 2020, Acharya Swamiji has traveled on religious missions to Australia, Kenya, the UK and India to unite people safely as restrictions begin to ease the COVID-19 pandemic and remind them of the importance of faith and unity.

Acharya Swamiji is now on his tour, and this week he will open the newly constructed traditional Shikhar Bandh Hindu temple in Ocala, Florida, from July 7 to July 9. This will be followed by a ceremony for a new temple in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

He will also visit classes in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, California, Arizona, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Connecticut, and Canada.

The inaugural tour will conclude in August in New Jersey, where the disciples will gather on August 5 to celebrate a devotional and scattering of the sacred ashes to honor the fifth heir of Maninagar Shri Swaminarayan Gadi Santhan, Acharya Shri Purushottambriadasji Swamishri Maharaj. Finally, on August 6, there will be a celebration of the 21st anniversary of the Temple of Secaucus and Acharya Swamiji will leave for the UK on August 10.
