A former police officer is suing the North Plainfield Police Department, claiming he was fired after seeking treatment for a drug addiction he prescribed after a work injury.
Frances Steinhauser, 35, stated in court papers that he accepted himself on July 6, 2020, in an inpatient rehabilitation program in Shatterbrough, Florida, which treats first responders for mental health and substance use disorders.
