IKEA to Launch First Store in Bengaluru on June 22, to Have Connectivity From Nagasandra Metro Station

IKEA India (part of the Ingka Group), the Swedish home furnishings retailer, said on Tuesday it would launch its first store in the city, on June 22.

It added in a statement that the mega-store will be connected to the Nagasandra metro station. IKEA India has also announced the appointment of Anje Heim as Market Manager in Karnataka.

Heim said: “IKEA aims to provide home furnishing solutions that match the aspirations and dreams of many people in Bengaluru for a better everyday life. IKEA Nagasandra will act as a one-stop destination for all your home furnishing requirements.”

The 12.2-acre IKEA Nagasandra store will feature more than 7,000 acres of affordable, high-quality, sustainable and well-designed IKEA products, the statement said.

The store will also feature one of the largest children’s play areas ‘Smoland’ along with a 1,000 seat restaurant and bistro serving a mixture of Swedish and Indian delicacies.

IKEA started its e-commerce journey in Bengaluru, with a shopping website and app in 2021.

Meanwhile, IKEA India started its online ordering for Mumbai residents in August 2019, making Mumbai the first Indian city where IKEA started online ordering, and the second – after Hyderabad – where customers can access the IKEA product catalog. IKEA online shipments cover the greater Mumbai area, including the cities of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane.

Unlike the likes of Amazon, Flipkart, and local furniture competitors Pepperfry and Urban Ladder, IKEA does not offer free delivery to its customers. Instead, you must pay a one time minimum minimum of Rs. 199 for delivery, with costs as high as product weight.
