Jersey City announced Friday afternoon its latest effort to spur affordable housing construction: a program that would allow developers to increase project density in return for setting aside more affordable housing.
Developers can subscribe to the affordable housing overlay by allocating 10% or 15% of the units in the project at affordable prices, depending on the wealth of the neighborhood.
In return, they will get a break in zoning to build more units on the same amount of space.
