Clark Township agreed to pay $825,000 to end two court cases against the beleaguered police department.
In one settlement, a Rahway woman received $325,000 after she accused a police officer of assaulting her during a traffic stop, sending her to hospital with a broken bone.
On the other hand, Clark will pay $500,000 to a Linden couple who were seriously injured after their driver crashed into an escaped town police during a high-speed chase.
