Three people were injured when one of the plane’s landing wheels fell and the plane caught fire on Tuesday, a spokesman for Miami International Airport said.
The FAA said landing gear “fell” when a Red Air flight from Los America International Airport in the Dominican Republic approached the runway Tuesday night. The problem of the landing gear was the cause of the fire.
There were 126 people on board, and three were hospitalized with minor injuries, said Greg Chen, director of communications for the Miami-Tate Aviation Department. The other passengers were taken to the bus station.
Chen said videos posted online showed the flames were then put out.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Traffic Safety Board are investigating the accident.
