Amazon Prime Video India Signs Multi-Film Licensing Deal With Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment

Amazon Prime Video India has entered into an exclusive multi-movie licensing agreement with Bollywood production company Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (NGE), the streaming platform announced. This essentially means that all upcoming movies produced under the Sajid Nadiadwala banner will land on Prime Video after their theatrical release, allowing subscribers to watch them on TV and mobile devices. These movies will also be available to subscribers and non-subscribers alike, prior to their launch on the platform, under an “early access” scheme where you will need to pay a certain amount to rent them even if you have a Prime Video account.

In a prepared statement, Nadiwala said: “At Amazon Prime Video, we believe we have found a partner who not only shares our vision of delivering immersive cinematic experiences, but also provides global distribution of the best stories from the Indian entertainment ecosystem. This collaboration marks NGE’s first exclusive deal on a global scale. World, Multi-Film, Multi-Year with Prime Video – We are confident that this comprehensive cinema partnership will enable our upcoming titles to travel beyond geographies and further add value to Prime Video’s premium content selection.The world of storytelling is evolving across genres, and I believe this association will pave the way for further collaboration between the two brands.”

The deal between Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Amazon Prime Video India comes at a time when the banner is around with quite a few movies out for release in the coming months. First, there’s the actor Bawaal, which includes Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, who rose to fame with the 2016 sports drama Dangal.

Dhawan will be casting his portrayal with the action thriller Sanki, directed by Anurag Singh who previously featured Kesari in the war period drama led by Akshay Kumar. She stars Parineeti Chopra, who was last seen in the sports drama Saina, as the lead actress. Sanki, like Bawaal, will arrive on Amazon Prime Video after his theatrical release.

Dhawan is not the only actor who could benefit from this deal as Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4, the spiritual successor to Baaghi 3, Kartik Aaryan also will be covered by the deal between Amazon Prime Video and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. This list also includes films directed by Ravi Audiwar (Mother), Samir Vidwans (Anandi Gopal(and Saket Choudary)average Indian).

You can watch these titles in theaters or on Amazon Prime Video once they hit the platform after their theatrical release.
