Airtel Offering Complimentary 1GB Data for 3 Days to Select Prepaid Users: Report


Airtel is offering 1GB of free high-speed data in the form of vouchers to a select section of prepaid users, according to the report. This free data is allegedly offered to customers with a smart plan. The report says that the telecom giant is sending text messages to inform its users that the free data coupon has been added to their accounts. The development comes a few days after it was reported that Bharti Airtel, along with Reliance Jio, are looking to buy all India 5G spectrum.

According to a report by onlytech, high-speed data is offered for free in the form of vouchers, which can be claimed by going to the “Vouchers” section of the Airtel Thanks app. High-speed data is available for three days and will automatically expire on June 1, if unclaimed, the report notes. In addition, the free data is said to be given to “usually low recharge customers on a smart package of Rs 99”. Once claimed, the voucher will be credited to the users’ Airtel account balance within 15 minutes.

This news comes a few days after a report was released that said Bharti Airtel is in a position to procure 5G spectrum for all of India. The telecom giant also posted a doubling jump in its consolidated net profit to Rs. 2,008 crore for the March quarter. The net profit amounted to Rs. 759 crore in the period last year.

Earlier this month, a report by the telecom regulator TRAI stated that Airtel, along with Jio, added subscribers which in turn increased the total telecom user base to over Rs 116.69 crore in March 2022. The net addition of Airtel mobile customers was In March 22.55 lakh.
