Bounce Partners With Bharat Petroleum for Setting Up Battery Swapping Infrastructure at Fuel Stations


Electric transport company Bounce Infinity said Monday it has partnered with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to build battery swap infrastructure at the public sector oil major’s gas stations.

Bounce said in a statement that the battery exchange service starting in Bengaluru will be expanded to major metro cities in phases, and the company aims to set up 3,000 stations in the top 10 cities.

The company said that the smart framework will not only cater to the company’s retail business, but also support interoperable two- and three-wheeled partners, adding that battery swap as a solution will also support those two- and three-wheeled vehicles. Which have been converted into electric cars from conventional motors.

Bounce co-founder and CEO Vivekananda Hallakere said the company has entered into a strategic partnership with prominent industry players to revolutionize the battery swap scenario.

“This partnership underscores our commitment to a cleaner, pollution-free country by providing access to our network to consumers with the same volume and convenience as refueling. We look forward to a long-term partnership between Bounce Infinity and BPCL,” Hlakere added.

Replacing the battery with Bounce Infinity pre-charged batteries will significantly reduce vehicle downtime, adding convenience for customers and reducing range anxiety, said PS Ravi, BPCL’s Chief Executive Officer (Retail).

He added, “Bounce Infinity’s interoperability will help us serve more electric vehicle customers and help grow the important battery replacement segment in the country’s EV space.”

Ravi said, “This urban markets-focused partnership complements BPCL’s comprehensive electric vehicle charging roadmap to create fast charging lanes across the country’s major highways that connect major cities and economic centers and will have a network of 7,000 fast charging stations at convenient locations along With a host of amenities for customers in the country within the next 2-3 years.”
